Sustainable Tourism

Opening its doors to guests in 2017, The Culvert Hotel Resort lies on a stretch of secluded beach right next to one of Sarawak’s most iconic landmarks – Mount Santubong. As a professional in the hospitality industry, The Culvert Hotel Resort is strongly committed to play a part in saving the environment

Recycling and Reusing
Positioned as an eco-friendly resort in Kuching, The Culvert Hotel Resort incorporates the beauty and serenity of its scenic surroundings through its unique design of standalone suites and rooms made from refurbished concrete culverts. The design helps preserve the wonders of our natural rainforest while placing our guests right in heart of nature.

Organic Products
The Culvert Hotel Resort is reducing the usage of cleaning products with chemicals and shifting towards products that are organic, made with bio-based oils. Harmful pesticides and insecticides are not used at The Culvert Hotel Resort. The Culvert Hotel Resort maintains its most natural form of nature and insists only organic mosquito repellent. Organic products are less irritating to our guests, employees and the environment.

Energy Conservation
The Culvert Hotel resort is designed to allow natural breezes to cool the areas instead of installing air-conditioning. Most areas eliminated the need for air-conditioning, except for guest rooms. Guest rooms are wired to occupancy sensors whereby electricity would be cut off from the rooms once guests leave their rooms to reduce energy consumption.
